“Choosing the horses for our breeding and show programs was a challenge – finding someone to help take the “perfect” picture was almost impossible until we contacted Darcia from dk Designs & Photography.  Darcia met all of our critera – she KNOWS horses, wasn’t willing to settle for an “almost perfect” picture and was willing to work through some really long and hot days to get what we wanted.  And what we wanted wasn’t easy!  We wanted something different – the horses in a variety of poses, in a variety of locations and from a variety of angles.  We also didn’t want any of our pictures to be altered to create the horse – all of our pictures are 100% the animal that was photographed.  This doesn’t sound like much, but I can honestly sell a horse based on the photographs we have taken because it IS the animal in the photos.

Darcia (and Ray) came to our photo shoots full of energy and with TONS of ideas.  She has helped me to realize that the pictures we are taking can be so much more than pictures – they are ART.  Darcia has created for us; floating wraps (they stick out from the walls and look to be floating on the wall), photo books, business cards, canvas prints (oil-painting look-a-likes) and my personal favorite – a truly artistic canvas print that used the lighting in our barn to capture our senior stallion, Grassmeres Jazz Singer.  The photo is so amazing that if you look closely into his eye, you can see the barnyard reflected outside – now that’s artwork you don’t get with just anyone.  With the help of dk Designs & Photography, we have proudly displayed our photos on our website, on the walls in our home and in our National Award winning Tack Room at the AMHR National Show.

Darcia brought so many fun and exciting ideas to the table, that the biggest problem now is selecting which pictures we want.  We have used dk Designs & Photography for the past few years and couldn’t imagine using anyone else to capture our horses in print for the future.”
